A Warm Balance

A welcoming retreat has taken shape in this Vilamoura home (Algarve), where the kitchen and living room have been seamlessly combined into a single harmonious space, defined by a serene and warmly toned palette.
A meaningful renovation has transformed the shared living spaces of this Vilamoura villa, bringing both aesthetic refinement and practical ease to everyday life. The once-enclosed kitchen has been opened to the living room, creating a seamless social hub that flows out to the garden and pool – visually connected through generous glazing that floods the interior with natural light and enhances the sense of openness.

The design revolves around a soft, cohesive palette of creams and greys, establishing a warm, tranquil atmosphere. The layout encourages fluid communication between zones, supporting a more integrated and inviting way of living.

At the heart of the project is a bridge-style kitchen, predominantly finished in a soft cream lacquer – one of JMQ’s most successful choices. Soft grey accents feature in the mid-level units and within the breakfast cabinet. Both are showcased in the brand’s showroom, where the clients first found inspiration for their dream kitchen.

The bespoke breakfast cabinet stands out as both a distinctive and highly functional element. It offers generous storage with deep drawers and folding doors that discreetly conceal appliances and any morning clutter, supporting a calm and tidy start to the day.

The chosen worktop, Dekton Mooné, strikes a delicate balance between the cabinetry tones, offering a neutral surface that avoids stark contrast while enhancing the overall harmony of the space.

Colour Palette

The colour scheme for the space was thoughtfully curated to evoke a sense of calm and retreat. While centred around key JMQ kitchen elements – cabinet fronts, worktop, and all surface finishes – it extended well beyond them. Notably, the selected flooring plays a vital role, beautifully complementing the cream lacquer cabinetry, which remains the dominant tone throughout.

These warm, harmoniously blended shades come together to create the relaxing atmosphere the clients had envisioned – a true haven of understated serenity.

The Breakfast Station

Functionality and charm come together in this thoughtfully designed breakfast station. The unit is cleverly arranged so that the spacious drawers remain always accessible – ideal for storing essentials and pantry items used throughout the day – while only the upper section is concealed behind folding doors.

Finished in a cream to blend seamlessly with the room’s dominant palette, the unit’s reduced height further enhances the sense of openness and natural light within the space.

A Connection Element

When the folding doors of the breakfast cabinet are opened, a soft grey interior is revealed – echoing the tone used in the mid-level units. This subtle continuity creates a visual link between the various elements, reflecting the cohesive approach we value in our kitchen design.

The shelves express understated elegance through their reinforced thickness and integrated lighting, while the work surface in Dekton Mooné offers durability without compromising on aesthetic harmony.

The Bridge Concept

The kitchen was designed in a bridge layout, combining two depths on the wall cabinets to optimise both form and function. The mid-level cabinetry was crafted with ergonomics in mind, allowing comfortable workspace clearance without obstructing movement or the line of sight across the countertop.

Above, the upper cabinets align in depth with the tall units, creating a visually unified composition while also maximising storage.

This format proves especially suitable for spaces with generous ceiling height, making use of vertical volume to enhance the room’s sense of structure and spatial layering.

Framed in Dekton

The layout of the cabinetry creates a framing effect around the sink area, where the cream lacquer units elegantly embrace the soft grey. This refined detail is further accentuated by the Dekton Mooné in cladding – not only used for the worktop and splashback, but also to limit the tall units and the transition between upper and mid-level cabinetry – lending the space a subtle touch of luxury.

To accommodate the Dekton side panels, the mid-level units on the sides were reduced in width by 2 cm, ensuring perfect vertical alignment between upper, mid, and base cabinet doors and drawers.

Below the sink, on the right-hand side, a fully integrated dishwasher sits discreetly behind two false drawer fronts, maintaining the horizontal alignment of the surrounding furniture.

Every element has been considered – to the last detail.

Two Temperatures Wine Cooler

This serene kitchen in Vilamoura invites a sense of calm – much like a good glass of wine, enjoyed at the perfect temperature and in good company. So why not bring it all together?

In line with that, the tall unit on the left houses a Pando wine cooler with two independent temperature zones, ideal for keeping both reds and whites at their best – always ready to be served and shared.

The Joy of Cooking

Facing the stunning garden and pool, the home chef can cook with ease using the BORA Pure system – 76 cm wide, featuring four induction zones and integrated extraction. For added discretion and protection, it has been seamlessly built into the worktop.

Tucked inside the island, out of sight from those gathering in the heart of the living space, is the Siemens studioLine oven – quietly serving function without disrupting the flow.

Quietly Kept

The homeowners plan to occasionally rent out the property but are keen to maintain some privacy – and to keep certain items reserved for family use. With this in mind, the cabinetry on the reverse side of the island includes lockable storage.

There’s also space for a breakfast ledge, comfortably seating two. Consider it an open invitation.
